- Research Centers, Institutes, and Laboratories Membership: Organized non-profit, academic disaster research centers, institutes, and laboratories which aim to contribute to the understanding of risk, hazards, and disasters. Any part-time or full-time employee of a research center, institute, or laboratory, who is interested in the objectives of NAAHDRI, is eligible for this membership category. A single designated voting representative for each research center, institute, or laboratory is identified at the time of application for membership, and confirmed annually by the NAAHDRI Secretariat. The voting representative for each research center, institute, or laboratory is eligible to vote on changes to the Charter, in Board of Directors elections, and other special elections. All other members can hold office, nominate members for positions on committees and the Board of Directors, and participate in meetings, programs, and other activities and services of NAAHDRI.
- Individual Associates: Individuals such as part- or full-time academics, practitioners, private-sector/non-profit researchers, or students not affiliated with an academic research center, institute, or laboratory, but still involved in hazards or disaster studies, disaster prevention, response, or recovery activities. Any non-affiliated individual, who is interested in the objectives of NAAHDRI, is eligible for this partnership category. Individual Associates cannot vote on changes to the NAAHDRI Charter and cannot participate in Board of Directors elections. Individual Associates can participate in committees, nominate members or associates for positions on committees, and participate in meetings, programs, and other activities and services of NAAHDRI. Individual Associates are also encouraged to sign statements drafted by the NAAHDRI leadership and to participate in other research, education, and advocacy activities as initiated by the NAAHDRI Board of Directors or committees.
- Support Organization Associates: Agencies, organizations, and private and public enterprises with activities related to hazards or disaster research and/or risk reduction. Any part-time or full-time employee of such an organization, who is interested in the objectives of NAAHDRI, is eligible for this partnership category. Support Organization Associates cannot vote on changes to the NAAHDRI Charter and cannot participate in Board of Directors elections. Support Organization Associates can participate on committees, nominate members or associates for positions on committees, and participate in meetings, programs, and other activities and services of NAAHDRI. Support Organization Associates are also encouraged, as appropriate, to sign statements drafted by the NAAHDRI leadership and to participate in other research, education, and advocacy activities as initiated by the NAAHDRI Board of Directors or committees.
Membership fees will be determined by the Board of Directors at a future date.
